The night washed over the world and turned everything into haunting shadows. There was not a star in sight and even the moon was hiding from view. A rumbling of evil was brewing in the air, causing feeling of fear in most. Most that is, except Bellatrix Black. She lived for moments such as these. The fear fueled her and made her feeling stronger and somehow more superior. She felt alive tonight and wanted to just dance the night away. She only hoped she would not be seen down here since the Forbidden Forest was not the most respected of places. Not that she cared really what others thought. She just did not want to have to answer questions. The place she wanted to go tonight was deep within the trees, possibly to visit her old favourite place, but the exact destination was an open subject. It was one of her favorite places to be anyway, as it had a dark and lingering feeling to it. The feeling seemed to creep up into your very body and rest there. Perhaps it was completely demented, but that was the type of person Bellatrix was.

The soft patter of footsteps could be heard from a long distance away, for it seemed as if the world was at a still. Nothing else in sight was moving, no wind.. Just silence, and loneliness. Calmness.. Perhaps? Not even an animal was disturbed as Miss Black made her way deeper, and deeper into the woodland. So long it had been since she had wandered into such depths... But, for some reason, it felt almost like home, considering she loved the place so dearly. Whatever it was, the Forest seemed to be almost as if a friend.. Even though she gave nothing to it in return for giving her pleasure. But, that is crazy talk! The forest was not a friend of hers, as if in an actual relationship.. But as a friend of nature.. As if Mother Nature herself, was clearly on Bellatrix's side for once. Even though with the exception of the small illness that had caught up with her a long time ago.. Things were better now. Much better...

The teenage girl couldn't think of anything else that she loved to do than to take a night-time stroll through the darkness of the Forbidden Forest. However, this usually meant that her day had been a downfall.. Even though in today's case, it did mean that.. But, at least it wasn't too bad of a day.. Like most times were when she ventured into this place. To be exact, her day couldn't even be classified as bad.. For it was more or less.. Boring.

Brutus was muttering darkly under his breath.

You stupid, stupid boy! He cursed in his mind.

What, one might ask, was Brutus Farworthy McKinnon doing in the Forbidden Forest in the middle of the night? Well, the answer was quite simple, he didn't know either. He had seen the figure of a girl retreating into the forest and his rather curious senses, and his drive as a Prefect, had forced him to get dressed and break rules he knew very well he could get kicked out of school for.

But he had to do this.

He stumbled over a log, tearing through his jeans and into the flesh of his shin. He cursed aloud and reached for his wand, grimacing. He sat himself down and reached down to assess the damage. There was a large, jagged gash in his leg now. He grumbled and muttered a simple healing spell, which seemed to take care of most of the damage.

"Some Auror you'll make," he said to himself.

"Some Auror you'll make,"

As she walked further into the forest, she could hear distant sounds of crunching leaves and nature around her. At first thought, she would imagine the sounds belonged to an animal of some sort that resided in the forest, just prowling about to check the area. And even though there was indeed the risk that the sounds belonged to a human or other dangers, Bellatrix continued on her own way as if she never head anything. This was changed only seconds later when she was forced to turn on her heel and head toward an area in which she had heard a voice.

Now was the time when she revealed her wand into sight, from her pocket. There was someone else there, and though the smart thing to do would be to run in the opposite direction, Bellatrix persisted on forward to the voice. It was the simple things like this, which separated her from any normal person. Any sane person would haven’t thought twice and ran for their lives out of the area so they wouldn’t get caught or harmed.. And to be honest, she didn’t really feel like speaking of her reasons for be in a restricted area either. On the other hand, if she got lucky it would just be another student.

It was no time at all before she was standing only meters away from the person who she was sure the voice had come from. They were on the ground when she reached them. With a short jerk of her wand, the tip of it illuminated the area with a glow of light just bright enough to shine on each face. The once mystery person was now easily recognized as Brutus McKinnon. “You know, it might do you some good to practice on walking once in a while,” She said with malice threading its way through each of her words.

The sound of crunching leaves caused Brutus to look up, his entire body tense. He grimaced and pulled his leg closer to himself. One never knew exactly what they might run into out here, after all. The last time he had been here, he and his girlfriend had been attacked by several other students, resulting in quite a bit of trouble, not only in their relationship, but with the school. They were lucky they hadn't been expelled.

Brutus startled at the sudden light and saw, with a large degree of surprise and alarm. His last confrontation with Bella had resulted in him being covered in boils and with a broken wand. He had a new one, now, but it hadn't been pleasant either way. He squared his jaw and looked at her levelly.

"You shouldn't be out here, Black," he said shortly. He held his wand ready and rose to his feet, bracing his weight on his good foot. He knew that she was more capable than he in the art of attacking, and all he could do was hope that he could defend himself. He took a step back, trying to avoid a confrontation at all.

Bellatrix watched closely as the boy began to stand back up. He had exposed his wand, but she had no fear of it. It wasn’t like he could use it properly anyhow. She wouldn’t be surprised if he hadn’t improved on his wand work since their last meeting.. But there was a small sliver of a chance that he had. Either way, she was completely relaxed about the situation. She knew she could overcome him with much ease.

"You shouldn't be out here, Black,"

At this, the young female laughed. “And what exactly is your excuse, McKinnon?” She asked, twisting her mouth into a disgusted face. It was as if even speaking the name had harmed her in some way.. For her new expression was nowhere near pleasure.

Bellatrix soon began to twirl her wand in between her fingers carelessly. The light from the wand still visible, yet now forming somewhat of an oval in the air as it continued to move around her slender fingers. And only when he took a step back, was when she moved any other part of her body. Her feet took two steps closer to where the boy stood. “Scared, are you?” She taunted, ending with yet another harsh laugh.

Brutus frowned in return to her approach. It wasn't that he was unable to defend himself, but he had been outmatched at their last meeting. He hadn't reached for his wand in time, and Bella had disarmed him. But his nervousness wasn't helping. He felt his worries of being cursed again overwhelming him, and this time, he was fairly sure he wouldn't be found, at least not by anything or anyone friendly.

At her words, he allowed a glare to reach his eyes. He didn't much care for speaking to her in the first place. She was one of those people who gave him chills simply by being around.

She moved closer to him as he stepped back, and he reached out his other hand to locate the log so that he wouldn't trip on it again. He located it, though with the back of his legs. He inhaled sharply, furrowing his brow, his handsome features marked with frustration.

"I don't have to answer to you, Black," he snapped. "And I'm not scared of you, I'm just smart enough to know that you fight dirty."

He had more than enough experience in that department to justify his response. She certainly had not fought fairly the last time they exchanged wandfire. She was one of the reasons he felt such an intense disliking for Slytherins in general.
